Your mission, should you choose to accept it..

I hope this is one of our Future missionaries. I also hope he is happier about it then he looks here. This is our current missionary; my "little" brother Ben...uh...I mean Elder Aird.
He is serving in the Washington Spokane mission

he is "heads and shoulders above the rest." (Har Har Har)
It will be tough to "fill his shoes" when he is gone. (snicker, he he he)
We are proud of him and glad he is such a good example for our boys. We really "Look up to him" (snort, giggle giggle). He's tall and big get it?! I'm so funny! OK, I'll stop now.

You know your child is moble when....

You put her on a blanket to play and five minutes later you find this:
She is too little to be doing this! she is 4 months old for goodness sake!

24th of July festivities

We had fun celebrating the 24th yesterday. We went swimming and then watched the children's parade. Tyler and Jacob got to ride on the float as "future missionaries" they looked so cute, but I didn't get a photo of Jacob.

"Can I eat those flowers?"

That is what Tyler said after I made this for girls day at my mom's house. It was yummy. Too bad I accidentally bought an orange honeydew. It was supposed to have green "leaves". Oh well.
Super easy and fun.
Thanks Amber!

Jungle Jims

The boys and I had fun at Jungle Jims in South Salt Lake today. The girls and I went while our husbands are away. I love how Ty and Jake went on the rides together and got along so well. Jacob loved feeling like a big boy and going on "fast rides". I guess we can still enjoy ourselves while Randy is gone. Worth the $17 plus buying tokens for arcade games? Still not sure, but it sure was fun for them. Afterwords we went to Cafe Rio and THAT was fun for me.

4 Months and counting

Our little Lily is getting older. She is now 4 months old and getting cuter every day. At her checkup, she was in the 50% for her weight and 50% for her height. An average girl. The pediatrician was concerned that she has not been gaining much weight though. at her 2 mo. checkup she was 75% for weight and 90% for her height, so it is quite a bit different now. He suggested I increase her medication for reflux and nurse her more often but smaller amounts as well as start feeding her cereal twice a day. I am trying two of those, but I am not quite ready to start solid food yet. She is super active, especially for a 4 mo. old. She rolls over every way possible and can scoot around too! This crazy girl is going walk out the door here pretty soon. And seeing as she is gaining weight (albeit a little bit) I think she will be fine with breast milk for now. Hopefully the spitting up will go away with more medication. Anyway, that is our Lily update.

Here is how she looks most of the time.
Yeah, fingers in her mouth, no thumb sucking, no pacifier (most days) just those two sweet little fingers. Just like her mama used to do.

I had to throw in a cute hairdo from the other day too. Her long curly hair fits in 3 ponytails now.

Heather's "How To"

Jacob hasn't been doing well with his asthma lately, so we took him to the doctor and now we have to give him two different nasty tasting medications for his asthma and allergies. Since Randy ditched me to go on a canoe trip with the scouts (that of course he volunteered to go on) I am on my own in administering this said medicine. Here is how I have been successful in doing so.
How to: give a two-year-old nasty tasting medicine
1. there is no reasoning with a two-year-old, so you have to get down to business right away.
2. sit on the floor with him laying on your lap.
3. place your right leg over both his legs so he can't kick you or the medicine.
4. take both his arms with your left hand.
5. grab the loaded medicine syringe with your right hand.
6. try to hold his head with the crook of your left elbow.
7. a)shove the syringe in his mouth and squirt the medicine in.
7. b)If he is as tight lipped as mine is, you must bend your head down and plug his nose with your mouth until he opens his mouth to breathe. Then quickly administer the medicine.
8. Let go of everything and hold his mouth shut until he swallows. He WILL try to spit it out.
9. Have a glass of milk handy to get the taste out of his mouth quickly. (I hear a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down as well.)

repeat twice a day for at least 5 days according to the doctors recommendations.

Caution: you MUST follow these steps at lightning speed in order to be successful. I recommend practicing a few times with an older test subject such as a sibling who can be easily bribed with copious amounts of Nerf bullets for his Nerf gun. NEVER use real medicine on the test subject.

Mohawk Monday

Today we did Mohawks for FHE to see who had the "coolest one" Who says I can't have fun with everybody's hair!

Loves

Love Lily in her 4th of July outfit.

Love how much Jacob loves his little flag

Love watching my boys watch the parade

Love how much Jacob loves candy

Love how interested Lily looks here

Love how my little girl won't sit or stand but does this while I try to take her picture

Love teeny tiny bracelets.

Two products: One recommended, one not

This weekend I found out a couple of things. The good and bad about these two products:
First, the new 'Transformers" blue Slurpee and the second, Great Lash Mascara. Guess which one I DON'T recommend?

Maybe these two photos will help you decide.

Well, I have decided NOT to recommend the Transformers Slurpee due to the fact your tongue/lips/teeth are blue the rest of the whole day. Tastes good though. I also choose TO recommend great Lash Mascara because it DOES come off. You can't see it in the photo but Jake's other eye is just as bad as the visible eye. Happy shopping.

It's Here!

Wahoo. My new double stroller is here! I was getting so tired of carrying either Lily or Jacob while the other one was in the stroller. I had to wait an extra month or so because I decided I would rather have the couches for downstairs first and then buy this. Tyler helped me put it together and I have to say he is pretty smart when it comes to putting things together (just like his dad). I really want to go for a walk now, but unfortunately it is raining pretty hard at the moment. Hope it clears up soon!
