Five Fun Things

Tyler decided on Friday night that the next day we should do "five fun things" and my thought was "Why not?" So on Saturday we started out on our quest to do five fun things as a family before the day was done.
First fun thing:
We went to the library. (Tim Bridgewater who is running for Senate was speaking there anyway)
We got to the Library every Thursday, but this was fun and special because it was SATURDAY.

The 2ND fun thing we did was go and play basketball in the church gym. Daddy had to go give a temple interview, so I played b-ball with the boys while Lily watched. Then Dad came a played at the end for a minute.

The 3rd fun thing was Grandma and Papa (My parents) came to visit. I think that counts as two fun things, but who am I to argue with a 6 year old about what qualifies as a "fun thing"?

The 5Th fun thing we did was play candy land before bed. It was a long game but the boys had a great time.
Those are our five fun things for Saturday.
But my favorite fun thing was #6 when everyone got to go to bed. Ahhhh...a VERY fun thing indeed.

Don't Laugh

My friend wanted some help with making and decorating a bridal shower cake for her brother's fiance. I wanted to practice using modeling chocolate. So she and I got together yesterday and after MANY cake problems and wondering if we should go out and purchase a cake, we ended up making a very cute 3-D chocolate bow for the top of this sad looking cake.
By the way, modeling chocolate is my new favorite thing. It is so much fun! I can't wait to see what I come up with for the birthdays just around the corner in our house.

Catching Up

First things first, This little girl is feeling much better. She isn't perfectly healthy yet, but she can play and walk and eat now.I had fun doing her hair the other day. It looked very cute. And I might add, no torture was involved whatsoever.

On Friday our basement flooded because the hose came loose off of our washing machine. Yuck. It is fixed now though and there doesn't appear to be any damage. (I would've taken more pictures, but I didn't think Randy would appreciate me "blogging about it" at the time. This is all I dared to take from the top of the stairs.)OK, I bought this coat for my little girl while I was in Park City. It was so cheap I had to buy it even though it isn't girly at all. I thought it needed something so I made a ribbon flower and put in onto the coat.


Tell me honestly what you think. If it looks ridiculous I will take it off.

Sicky Sickerson

Doesn't this break your heart? I hate when my babies are sick.

That being said, I love the fact that she will cuddle with me. She has never been one to lay on your shoulder or even lay in your arms. But when she is sick, I get to hold her all day and brush her hair out of her little face with my hand. I hope she feels better tomorrow. But for now, I will enjoy holding my little one.

My Aunt Gayle

She makes the best homemade whole wheat bread I have ever tasted. She was kind enough, not only to give me the recipe but also give my sisters and I a tutorial on how to make it as perfect as she does. Although the bread making lesson she gave us was a while ago, I made some bread today for my family to try out. It was sweet, melt in your mouth, wonderful bread. Thanks Aunt Gayle.

It also made this little girl happy even though she has been whining and sick all day. She couldn't get enough of the bread.

The DI Idea

I was at the DI the other day (looking for something specific for a project in my head) and I came across a metal candle holder. I looked at it for a while and an idea popped into my head. "This would make a good earring holder" So I payed the dollar for it. I also bought another spiral candle holder at the DI for 50 cents a little while ago. I got some of Randy's scrap wood from building the basement and mod-podged scrapbook paper onto it. Then I put on some 75 cent hooks. I attached it to the wall by my mirror in my room with those sticky velcro things that don't damage your wall.

This is what I got:Here is one candle holder made into a bracelet/watchband keeper

next we have the tree shaped candle holder that is holding my dangling earrings. (kinda hard to see because of the shadow it put off in my room.)

Here is the finished product! I finally have a place for ALL my jewelry. (I put my stud earrings in a little wooden box)

I am wondering though....What do YOU think? is it weird or cute or maybe even cuegly? I like it. I think it is cute and efficient and it only cost me around $2.50. Can't beat that right?

11 Months

Lily is 11 months old today. Boy does time fly or what? She is my little sweetheart and I thought I would show some of the things she has been doing lately.

She is in love with her blankie and likes to take it wherever she goes. I love how when I go in her room in the morning, she greets me with smiles and holds her hands up for me to take her. Then, when I get close by to grab her, she bends down to pick up her blankie.

She mostly walks now.

Some frustrations I have been having with this girl: Her hair. She does not want me to do it or hold still so I can attempt to do it. I am used to her moving her head around while I try to put elastics in, but lately, along with moving her head around, she tries to grab her hair with her hands. Sigh, it drives me crazy. Her hair would look a lot better if she would just lay back.

Also, I have started to use detangling spray in her hair because if the snarls it gets. I really didn't think I would have to use something like that so soon. I love how she talks or Jibber-jabbers all day long. It is so nice to have a girl this time around.

and that is EXACTLY what Lily has been doing for the past 3 days.

Lily finally did it! I know she is only 11 months old, so to say "finally" seems a little silly, but she was seriously ready to walk around 9 months old. She just didn't want to do it until now.

Is it weird that I like the videos of her falling down? She doesn't get hurt, but she does complain about falling. oh, and I threw in this video of her laughing and playing with Jacob just cause it's cute.

Taking Time

It is hard to drop everything during the day and take time to nurse the baby.But it has to be done.

Sometimes it is just nice to cuddle

But it is always rewarding to have a happier baby once you are done.

The Sound of Music

Well, as you may have guessed, our piano was delivered yesterday afternoon. I have to say that it hasn't had much rest from being played either. Randy and I were fighting over who's turn it was after family home evening. We bought a Yamaha Clavinova CLP330. We are thrilled with this purchase. It was a little bit more money than we had planned on spending, but I talked the salesperson into giving us free delivery, free assembly, free tax, and an extra set of headphones, on an already marked down sale price Here is our little "Vanna White" showing it off

Cutie Pie

I can't get enough of dressing up this little girl. She sported a new dress and bow for church yesterday. The dress is a hand-me-down, but it is new to us. Thanks Callie! My sister Michelle made this super cute bow too. I was so glad the dress matched it almost perfectly. I can't tell you how many people came and told me they loved the bow. Thanks Michelle! I guess I will be doing a demonstration to show the women in our ward how to make this style. Oh, and did you notice her cute red leather boots? Ahhh! I just love it.the girls
