Annual Girls Trip to Park City

We went to Park City again this year and it was so much fun. Rachelle, Wendy, Tina, Alison, Nancy, Evelyn and I drove up and stayed in a condo overnight on Friday night. We played games...pretty silly games, and they ate some yummy food. I say 'they' because I am on a special diet right now. They also went swimming and we watched a movie. The parts I liked the most was the laughing. I haven't laughed that much in a long time. They all crack me up! The next morning (which came really fast after staying up past 2:00 AM.) we hit the outlets for some memorial day weekend shopping. I found some really good deals. I made a list and promised myself I would stick to it this year. I only had $30 to spend on the kids. I got 4 t-shirts, 5 onesies, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of church pants, 1 super cute dress, a pair of flip-flops and 1 pair of shoes. All for just under 30 bucks! not bad eh? The only thing I got that wasn't on my list was the super cute dress. But can you really pass up a dress for $2.99, seriously. After we shopped for a while, we went to lunch at subway, but only some of us ate Subway. Some ate leftover pizza and breakfast food and I brought my own lunch from home. After that, 3 of us went to get pedicures. I wasn't one of them though, I just wasn't in the mood to spend 30 bucks on my feet yesterday. So while they got their feet done, Tina, Nancy, Alison and I continued shopping. I bought myself some new jewelry and 3 new undershirts that were much needed. After the girls came back, we continued to shop and by that time Alison and I were pretty bored with the shopping so we went back to her car and chatted. It was really fun to sit and hangout with Alison. She is awesome. When everyone was finally done shopping, we drove back to SLC and went to dinner at the Olive Garden. The best part about dinner was when Nancy was talking about the waitress using the coupons we had and said something like "Well, if we don't get the discount, her tip is going to go WAY down." and the waitress was right behind her. I laughed so hard I cried. When dinner was through we drove to the Gateway and hung out until we were going to go to Keys on Main, a piano bar with dueling pianos. Around 8:30PM we headed over to the bar. Unfortunately when we got there, Wendy realized she had forgotten her Drivers license and didn't have any other form of picture ID. You wouldn't believe what Rachelle said to the bouncer to get her into the bar. she said "Well, can we just have her husband take a picture of her license and send it to her on her phone and then we can show it to you?" HAHAHA. The bouncer just laughed at us. Then his manager came over and he explained to the manager what was going on. The manager informed us that he just can't let her in the bar because if a cop came in and asked to see her ID and she didn't have it, he would be charged a $1500 fine. Some of the girls were pretty mad, but I understand it. I mean, it IS the law. We are just a bunch of girls from Tooele who don't usually go to places where ID's are necessary. So, instead of going to the piano bar, we went to Maggie Moo's instead for some ice cream. We stayed for well over an hour just talking and laughing. Then, when it was close to 10:30 we headed home. It was a super fun trip.

My favorite story...We were in the Shopko parking lot when Evelyn was cleaning off her windshield but the wipers and windshield washer fluid wasn't really working. So Nancy said "maybe it needs some air." meaning turn on the defroster. Evelyn said "oh, good idea" but didn't turn on the air, then she says "HOLD ON!" and guns it toward the store. I almost peed my pants. it was so funny. She did get some air on there.

I forgot to take my camera, so hopefully my friends will share their pictures with me. I will post them when I get a chance.

I received this in the mail today.

My Blog made into a book!

It is about 1/2 inch thick and it is only blog posts from October of 2007 through December 2008.

It is 150 pages long and that was after I cut out a ton of posts I didn't need in the book.

I will enjoy re-reading my "public" hardbound journal. I decided to include peoples comments in the book. They make it more fun to read. Especially Davids. :)
I purchased the book from www.blog2print.com I liked this site a lot better than Blurb. It was much more user friendly. It is expensive though (at least for me) this 150 page book cost me right around $70. I paid an extra $10 for a hardcover. Now I just have to save up for the next one...

P.S. for Rick,
The pictures aren't the greatest quality. I could print them on my printer on nice photo paper and have the same turnout, but to me everything else is WONDERFUL. The front cover pictures look fine though.

Laptop

Jacob is always pretending he is working on his laptop computer. So when I received this box in the mail, an idea come to me.Print out a keyboard and screen

fold into the shape of a laptop and tape where appropriate.

glue on orange paper (his favorite color) and glue on the printed papers.

He absolutely LOVES it! He wouldn't let me even take a picture of it because he wanted to play.
Side note: Don't you love his little Jerry curl in the front? Hahaha

Something else he and Tyler love: Sleeping in a tent in the basement.

Aren't they cute? I'm glad the flash of the camera didn't wake them up.

Jakey Says...

Randy and I were hanging out with Jacob and Randy was wrestling with him on the floor. Randy stopped, gave Jake a big hug and said "Who's my BEST bud?"

Jakey: "TYLER!!!"
Randy: (laughing) "OK, who's my second best bud?"
Jakey: proudly exclaims "ME!"

Sigh, so sad and so funny at the same time.

Piano Recital

Tyler had his first piano recital tonight. I wish we got him introducing himself on video because it was so cute. You could tell he was so nervous, but he stepped up anyway and was brave and did what he was supposed to do. He loves that he can play real songs now too. He played a "Hot Cross buns" duet with his teacher and then "Old McDonald had a farm." He doesn't like to practice very much, but with the right amount of bribery I can get him to do it most days. He did a great job.

All of the students at the recital. He is in the middle of his two friends Whitney and Brighton.

I was asked to take a finger dessert for after the recital. I made some cake-pops and cake-balls. Then I drew notes on them with my new edible markers. I thought they turned out pretty cute albeit a little lopsided for the most part. The kids loved the pops and they were gone pretty fast.

Play Ball!

Tyler had his first T-ball game yesterday. He did such a good job and he had a lot of fun. I love watching these little tiny kids play. They are so stinking cute.

Lily had fun "watching" and stealing someones pink baseball.

Jake did NOT have a great time though. His asthma was flaring up and he was tired.

Ty loved that he got treats after the game.

Jake felt better when we got home and gave him a breathing treatment. He fell asleep within the first 5 minutes. poor thing.

I think Tyler getting ready to bat is my favorite video. He looks like he is "In the zone" and is unaware of anything going on around him.

It was a fun game to watch. They don't keep score, so there are no "winners" but they all love it.

Three years ago today...

we moved out here to Tooele. It is amazing what a difference 3 years makes, especially for a young family. Three years ago today:

-I was a basket case. Jacob was only 5 weeks old and we were moving! I was emotional and so very tired.

-we moved from a large duplex to a small house. we didn't really have a place to put all of our stuff so we had to stack it in the unfinished basement. A whole room in the downstairs was full of just boxes to store.

-if my memory serves me right, it rained. A lot.

-We had a lot of help moving out of our duplex, but not a lot of help moving in. Two of our neighbors in Tooele came over to assist in the move. Both of them have since moved.

-Kim and Brandon drove from SLC to help us move and Kim accidentally tore our binds off our front window. She ripped it right out of the wall. Hahaha. She felt so bad, but we didn't really care that much. Plus she helped organize our kitchen and made our beds, and did so much for us that day. We took them out to Wingers that night to say thanks.

Those were some good times, but I'm so glad I'm not moving today. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Conversations

This morning as we were eating pancakes, Jacob put a second pancake on his plate, put syrup on top and then before he even took a bite declared "I'm done with breakfast!"

Tyler:"You can't be done! Look at all that food you are wasting."
Jacob:"I don't care."
Tyler:"When Dad gets home you are going to be in trouble for wasting food and he is going to beat you."
Me:"Dad doesn't beat you guys."
Ty:"Yeah he does, he fights with us all the time."
Me:"He wrestles with you, but he never hurts you."
Jacob:" YEAH HE DOES!! Last time he really hurt my feelings!"

Special Sunday

Today we were in Sacrament meeting and I was having a particularly hard time trying to keep Lily and Jacob from being too disruptive. I had taken Jacob out into the hall once already and Lily was Crying "Ma-Ma" when another little girl had taken her book from her. One of our friends little girls (Hallie) got up and bared her testimony. Then Tyler looked around and asked aloud to himself "Now...who's next?" and I pointed to him and said "You" he said "no, not me!" and I said "You can if you would like to, but you don't have to." after two more testimonies done by kids his age he looked at me and said with resolution, "I'm going to go." And he did just that. He got all the way up there and said "I'd like to bear my testimony and I know this church is true. I love my family and I know Jesus loves me." He paused.. looked at me, said "Um..." and then said "In the name of Jesus Christ Amen." I felt so proud of him. He has done something at Six years old that I never dared to do. It makes me so grateful for him and the spirit he brings into our home. He surely is a blessing in my life. I love you Tyler.
