First of all, I would like to say that I hadn't originally intended to paint a mural in our master bedroom. I have fiddled with the idea of murals for a while, have a lot of ideas for murals, but still hadn't done anything with my ideas yet. Jacob, a newcomer into the art field, decided that he would also like to pursue this venue. Without further introduction, I give you...Jacob's mural.
Isn't it beautiful? Yep, I didn't think it was either.
He took great care to not only center the mural, but extend it all the way to the outer walls.
He didn't forget the neglected space under the window on the outer wall.
There were tears when I told him the mural had to be removed. Not tears because he wanted to keep it on the wall, but rather tears for the hard work it entails to actually remove it. (It isn't his first time cleaning ink, crayon, or marker off the walls).
It took a good hour and a half, four magic erasers, and a lot of prompting and lectures, but we eventually had the artwork removed.

He shows a lot of potential as an artist. Not fun for you though.
Oh man! I'm sorry. It's too bad you guys are artists.
You have to give him props for using the a complementary color to this yellow. Blue is a good color choice if you want it to stand out.
Roxie so far has only decorated the back of the closet door and the tile floors. Than again I know the second we paint the walls she will become my little artist has well!! I will have to invest in Magic Erasers!!
Wow...he's still alive. I'm impressed! :)
AHHH!! so funny, but I know I would not be laughing if I was to walk in to my room and find that!
oh dear.
that is hilarious...and so sad...and so sweet. hi face in the last picture is priceless.
He is a good worker to get all that off in an hour and a half.
Whew! He is still alive so that means you are a good mom! That is hysterical.
Where would we be without magic erasers? Next time show him where the paper is stored.
Oh no! Tyler never did stuff like that, but I'm sure Mack will surprise me one of these days...he's always up to something sneaky :)
Glad it came off. It is funny how hard he worked on it though to center it. so funny.
So, a few weeks ago I told Nathan that in our next house I would really love to hire you to do a mural in the boys' room, a playroom, whatever. I told him I thought you were such a great artist with the window painting, the cakes, etc. but I didn't know if you did murals or would be willing. I looked at your blog and got so excited when I saw the title of this post! Not what I had in mind... No offense to Jake, but it's just not what we were looking for :) But, maybe in a few years we'll ask you how you are feeling about it then.
