They are so stinking cute. I just may go back to the dollar store and buy all the other colors too. I can't take the credit for this idea though, I got it from this blog called Ucreate. Very cool. The tutorial is at obsessively stitching in case you want to give it a try yourself. Yes, I copied everything even the same colors she chose. The pink and brown was just too cute to pass up.

Wall Worthy?
I needed a picture of the Bountiful Temple in my home and since I didn't want a picture everyone else had, I drew my own. They may not be the best photos of it, but you tell me if you think it is "wall worthy."
Don't be afraid to tell me if it isn't worthy. I bought the Matte and frame at the DI for 8 bucks. Sorry it is hard to see the details....not that I want you to.:) FYI, I used pastels this time instead of paints. OK....I'm ready. Critique away!
Hooray for the new Hat!

My latest Projects
I've been working on some projects and I thought I would share my ideas. I've got a few more in the works, so expect another post sometime soon. The first is a wall hanging I made for Lily's room. I found that frame at the dollar store and I thought it would be perfect for little Lily's hand print. Unfortunately, her hand was slightly bigger than the square opening, but I still think it looks good. I obviously traced her hand and used scrapbook paper for the print. Next up..bows. Yeah, I am trying not to get obsessed with making bows. I had a little time, and the glue gun was out, the other day so I made me some hair clips for Lily that I had been making in my head for some time. You tell me if they look weird or cute.
I have hated finding church ties all over the boys room all the time, so I thought I would make them a tie holder. I bought an ugly pinkish frame at the DI for $2 and spray painted it black I used a nail gun to attach the ribbon to the back of the frame and there you have it!
Now I just have to find the rest of the boys' ties.I can't show you my other projects because they have been eaten.
I did take this picture of some of the apples my Mom and Dad gave me off of their tree. They made the BEST apple pie. I have made many apple and peach pies lately and as you all know, I love to play with the crust to make different designs. maybe for the next one I will remember to take a photo before I give it away. (David, if you need an "apple picture" you may take this one. Although I am sure you will find a much more comical photo somewhere else.)

6 months and counting
Lily is now 6 months old! I can't believe it. She is scooting, giggling, eating (my goodness this girl loves to eat "real" food), sitting up (for the most part) and just making our days more joyful. We can't get enough of this sweet girl.
Yesterday she had her 6 month checkup with the pediatrician and she is doing really well. she is perfectly average. 50% for height 50% for weight and 50% for her head circumference. talk about well proportioned, it is no wonder she can get around as much as she does. she also got her shots which isn't a big deal. Ever since Eileen told me to give the baby Tylenol 30 min before the shots, we have never had a problem with fever or complaining children.
She is our little "Beana" with the contagious smile and Diva personality. We love this girl so much.

Fun Family Facts
Tyler
He is loving school and hating homework. but the homework isn't hard it is usually something like "tell someone about our class rules" or "practice writing your name and hold your pencil correctly". He also refuses to let me take photos of him. when our computers anti-virus system just said "Virus data base has been updated" Tyler said "Oh, that means our house is not on fire!" I have no response to that.Jacob
now adds "Uh" to everything. Example: "mommy-uh, I want to watch a movie-uh with lily-uh and eat-uh" he says it all whiny too. not so cool.We know we have a two-year-old when none of the shoes are in the closet and this is in my front room. Apparently they are "guns keeping him safe" but sometimes they are cars or boats or whatever else. Why do we buy toys again?Lily
She is a mover. She is never found where you just put her down. I say she crawls but what she really does is scoot wherever she goes. She has eaten rice cereal, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes and carrots. she loves to eat more than she loves to crawl and that says a lot.
8 years ago today....
I went to my graphic design class at UVSC at 7:00 am and it was my only class for the day. I got out of class and turned on the radio as I headed home. I listened to my regular "funny program" and they were all somber and talking about a plane crash in NY. I thought it might be a joke, but when I got home and turned on the news I found out it wasn't. None of my roommates were home, so I sat glued to the TV by myself. I wasn't scared, I wasn't sad, I just was. I don't think I fully understood the ramifications that the day would have in all our lives It is kind of interesting to look back and remember. Where were you?

Embarrassing
Today is early out Wednesday at school. Unfortunately Lily's nap time coincides with this early pickup time from school. I literally paced back and forth in the front room wondering if I should a) leave her in her crib and just run 5 min to the school and pick up Ty and his friend. b) wake her and take her with me for just 5 MIN! or c) go across the street and ask my neighbor (who I really don't know well, but I think I trust her at my home for 10 min) to watch her while I run to the school. I finally gave in and ran across the street and asked her. She had no problem with this and came right over. I am a little apprehensive at this point because I have never had her over to my house and it isn't as presentable as I would like it to be, but nonetheless, I am in a pickle, so that is understandable right? Anyway, I put Jake in the car and we go and pick up Tyler. We come home, I say thanks to Camille and she leaves. Tyler enters the house right after Camille leaves and says "OH! what is that SMELL?!! and plugs his nose. I myself don't smell anything, but I can feel my face start to turn red because I now know I had my neighbor over to my house for the first time not only to a messy home, but apparently smelly home as well. SO embarrassing.

Tongue Lashing at the DI
As the post title states, I received quite the talking to at Deseret Industries the other day. Here is the story.
The kids and I dropped off about $40 worth of stuff at the DI and afterwords I decided that we should take a look around and see if there was anything awesome in the store that day. Tyler and Jacob picked out two toys (neither of which had price stickers stuck to them). Tyler picked this hideous looking man about the length and size of my pointer finger. He also looked like Abraham Lincoln but was white and pale blue. The thing was so repulsive that I actually said "of course you want that" when he showed it to me. Jake on the other hand, picked out a pretty cool looking fire engine that was a pretty decent size. I had about $20 worth of stuff in my cart and we headed off to the checkout counter.
Because I am tired of the outrageous prices at the DI and I feel like everything is negotiable, I have no problem asking for a certain price on an item that I feel is mis-priced. They just randomly make the prices anyway and the stuff they don't sell gets thrown in the garbage. Anyway, I knew that if I let the boys go to the checkout counter and ask how much for the item, the old lady would charge me $2 for the stupid Abraham Lincoln thing (that isn't worth a nickel) and same goes for Jacobs toy. So, I gave Tyler a dime and Jacob 50 cents (because his was definitely worth more) and told them to ask the checkout lady (who happened to be pretty old and grumpy looking) if they could have the toy for the said amount of money. (obviously I thought she would be more likely to give them the toy of they asked than if I did.)
Tyler was up first, he showed her the toy man and asked if he could have it for his dime. she looked at him, looked at me and reluctantly agreed to the amount. Jake came up behind Tyler, put his money on the counter and showed her the truck. She got this look on her face of deep thought, looked at me, looked back at Jacob, and said "You have got to be kidding me!" She looked back at me and I said "Well, can he have it or not?" I was more than willing to put it back with the other toys, there was no way I was paying more than 50 cents for that thing. She took his money. After the transactions, the boys ran up to the door joyfully playing with their new toys. I preceded to place my items on the checkout counter(all of which were marked with price stickers and they seemed reasonable). She looks at me and says: "Good %#& Lady! You have got to be kidding me! I can't believe you would do that! &*$%. First of all (said with attitude), we do NOT sell anything in this store for less than 25 cents! So don't you bring in those nickels and dimes! and that truck would sell for at LEAST $2. I can't believe you would do that!" She rang up my items and I paid her the $20 for my items. She handed me the bag of items and added "Don't come back and do that again!"
I felt horrible that I made her so angry, but come on, she can't be mad at me because SHE sold items for less than they were worth. If she didn't want to sell them for the price they asked, she shouldn't have sold them. Yes, my cute boys are hard to turn down, and maybe I knew that, but I don't know that I deserved the tongue lashing I received. People go to the DI because they don't have a lot of money and they can get things for cheaper than retail. I hope she doesn't talk to people that way who are struggling and they bring in their "nickels and dimes" to buy toys for their kids. I know I'm sure as heck not gonna pay $1.50 for an old McDonald's happy meal toy!

Supermom has Help
Lately I (self proclaimed supermom) have been seeing this guy around our house. Maybe he thinks I the supermom am in need of some assistance. Silly Hero, he is no match for me especially when he is not necessarily doing good deeds, or saving helpless women and children, but he is around the house none the less.
If you are not nice to him, you can be sure he will "get you" with those giant muscles of his. He isn't afraid to get in your face if the situation proves necessary.
If you spot this "helper" around your house and you are wondering who the man behind the mask is; offer him a piece of gum and he will more than happily show himself.
He is no match for ME!
