Jacob's first day of kindergarten

Jacob is getting so big! Today was his first day of kindergarten. And before you think "That's an odd first day outfit" I'll point out that there was no swaying him when it came to what he wore today. That is an extra reason why I love that boy. He sticks to his guns. A trait I'm sure he gets from both of his parents.
Jacob and Tyler before school. They are so nice to reluctantly agree to do this for me.
Jacob is in morning kindergarten and his teacher is Mrs. Perkus. He is so exited to learn and play with the other kids in his class. Today they made a gingerbread man and he "actually ran away while he was in the oven." He had a great time, but the gingerbread cookies they ate "were a little spicy" he said.
Here he is when Randy dropped him off at school this morning.

Jacob is a great little boy. He loves to do whatever Tyler is doing and that usually includes playing X-box or my kindle Fire. He is also learning to read albeit a little begrudgingly. He says reading is too boring. When he actually tries he does really well though.
Jake also started taking piano lessons last week. Just like his brother.  It was a little rough the first day, but he seems to enjoy it more now.
Happy first day of school buddy!

face painting fun

I didn't get a lot of cleaning done yesterday. I was too busy playing with the kids. We crafted, we read stories and then when I told them it was time for me to make dinner. Jacob begged me to please paint his face. How could I say no to that?
Without further adieu, I give you Cheetah Jacob:
And butterfly Lily
Tyler didn't want to join in on the fun, but that's ok. I sure love these guys!

Alyssa is 6 months old!

Wow, I can't believe it has been a half of a year already!  She is the sweetest and best baby I have ever had. (don't worry, I still love the other kids). She will sit and play by herself, she will go to sleep when I lay her down and she has been sleeping through the night for almost four months now.
I have noticed that she has started scooting (mostly backwards) to reach for toys and whatever else is on the floor. I will leave her in the middle of the room and come back only to find her somewhere pretty far away from where I left her. I'm sad that she is moving already, but there is nothing I can do about it. I guess I will try to enjoy her new found movement.

She had her 6 month check up with the pediatrician today and I am glad to report and happy AND healthy child. She is in the 50th percentile for her weight at 15.2 lbs and in the 90th percentile for her height. She is tall and skinny so far. ;) our pediatrician calls her the "Gerber baby" because she says she is so cute she should be on posters and baby product labels. I have to agree with her, but I am a little bias...
Alyssa absolutely adores her brothers and sister. She squeals with delight when they blow raspberries on her tummy or when they talk and play with her. She is VERY loved.

Me and my sister Ali. She looks better than I do while camping the morning after!  I had to get up in the middle of the night with Randy after getting rained on. We weren't expecting rain so we hadn't put up the rain fly on our tent.without my contacts in and in the dark, we put it on upside down so it didn't work so well.  Hahaha.  With the wind and rain, I didn't get much sleep.

They wore their swimsuits again at the splash pad the next week. They looked so cute all matchy matchy.
 Lily...being Lily

I love this girl, can you tell?

Jakey Says...

Jake and his friend Chanse decided to leave our house and run over to Chanse's house. They had been gone less than 5 minutes when Jake comes bursting through the door sobbing/screaming. I asked him what was wrong and he said with his little tear filled eyes, taking a shaky breath after every couple of words "I just touched poison ivy...and when you touch poison ivy...you...after ten seconds...you...you DIE!" He shows me his finger (which looks perfectly fine to me) and stares up at me and says "I don't want to die!" I of course tell him that poison ivy doesn't make you die. Jake immediately stops crying and says "really?" I tell him that poison ivy will make you itchy and he said excitedly "It does?" I tell him "yes" and he says as happy as can be "I'm not even itchy!!!" I say ""Yep" and then he tuns and runs out the door to go play.

I'm so glad we avoided the deadly ten second death poison ivy today.
