Alright, I’ll Play Along (this time)

Alright, I’ll Play Along

Micah posted this on her blog and I’ve decided it would be interesting to give it a try. After all, I like to think of myself as creative and I also like to surprise people. From her blog:

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice – For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It’ll be done within a year. {might be a little while}
4. You will have no clue what it’s going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or maybe even some creation I haven’t even invented yet. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. I may even sew something for you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on YOUR blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. (Alright, if you don't post it on your blog I will still do it for you.)

I guess we’re going for an avalanche of homemade goodness spreading all over blogdom. So, if you’re up for it, leave a comment. or you could get really crazy and come up with some way to do it in person. So, who’s interested?

Lily look alike

I have been asked many times (more than "Is she a good baby") who Lily looks like. I have been told she looks like all of us. Mostly Jacob and I though. I thought I would compare baby photos and see what you all think.

First up, Lily and Randy

Lily and Heather
Lily and Tyler
Lily and Jacob
Obviously her hair sets her apart from all of us. But who do you think she looks MOST like?

What a stupid question

For the past three months I have been asked this question too many times to count. "Is she a good baby?" Come on! what am I supposed to say to that? 'Nope, she is an evil baby, you should just stay away.' or how about 'probably better than yours'. Have you ever asked that question and not heard the answer "Yes, she/he is?" Now, you could ask "Is she sleeping through the night? Is she an EASY baby? Is she a good nurser?, is she a fussy baby?, ask about milestones etc. But just asking if she is 'Good' is lame. All babies are inherently 'good'. So, next time you ask a stupid question, don't be afraid to get a stupid answer.
OK, I'm done now.

O'come on! Obama

Did you watch the ABC special last night where Obama sat down and talked about Socialism, I mean Universal health care? Well, I didn't watch the whole thing as I probably should have, because I didn't want to go to bed angry and frustrated (we have been trying to keep them out of the house). Let's just say I do NOT agree with the "plans" for universal Healthcare mostly because there aren't. They are planning on trying to pass something without first knowing exactly what they are going to do. The devil is in the details. Anyway, I didn't really want to talk about that.

What I DO want to talk about is Cap-and-Trade. Wait, haven't heard of it lately? I'm not surprised. It seems they are using universal healthcare as a hot topic so they can sweep cap and trade right by us. Basically the point of cap and trade is to increase the price of electricity so we won't use as much. Doesn't sound too bad, but an increase in electricity will increase our costs all over. For example, the grocery store has to pay more for electricity and therefore they pass that extra cost on to us for our food. Same goes for schools, etc. The US news world report said that "the cap-and-trade approach is the equivalent of a permanent tax increase for the average American household, which was estimated to be $1,100 in 2008, would rise to $1,437 by 2015, to $1,979 in 2030, and $2,979 in 2050." So my advice for today: Call your congressman and tell them to vote AGAINST cap-and-trade TOMORROW! unless you want to pay more. if you do, I suggest you just pay for my electric bill.

Our new addition(s) part two

If you missed my first post "Our new addition(s)" check it out here. I posted that a year ago and I thought I would give an update on our little trees. yeah, they are still little, but they were free and they are still alive, so I'm not complaining.
We had to cut off most of the old branches because they died and this is new growth this year. They actually look different from last year, but basically the same size. funny how that works.Tree in the front of the house it is up to about my elbow. I know, kinda tiny

Back tree that had the most growth last year on it.

view of all three side trees

Our best looking tree in the middle of the three side trees. By the way, I am NOT pregnant. (this time)

Visitors

We have had two visitors stay with us for the past week or so. Although they don't visit us too often, I will admit I dread the day that they "stop by". Most of the time they don't get in the way too much, but lately it seems wherever I go there they are! I rarely complain about house guests, in fact, I usually love it when people visit us. I just can't stand these two. If it bothered just me, this wouldn't be a big problem, but the fact is, they are driving everyone crazy especially Tyler and Jacob. I've been reading online about how to get rid of them with as little effort as possible and of course no hurt feelings. But, sigh, I have yet to come up with a brilliant idea thus far. We had a family meeting about our house guests yesterday and came up with a few ideas that will get them out. I truly hope they work and we won't see these two for quite sometime. I hope they don't visit someone else once they are gone from our house either. So watch out. Their names are Anger and Frustration.

"Sit down, have a cookie."

Yay! our couches are here and we don't have to sit on the floor or in a camping chair anymore! Wahoo. Here are some pics. Our camera has been going through some sort of breakdown and doesn't want to take clear, nice photos anymore. That is why the pics look bad and why there are "floaties."Weird I know. I promise the look much better in real life, so come visit. Next order of business, wall hangings.

A guy thing?

I guess tuning us girls out is not a learned behavior huh?Apparently neither of them had any idea Lily was screaming her head off. Of course I don't rescue my daughter, I just pull out the camera.

The secret is out

I don't think I can hide the fact that my little Lily has curly hair anymore. sigh. It is too long now to just comb it out straight. I know you are all SHOCKED too! Poor girl.

Best Burton Reunion!

Our family was able to go to the Burton Family reunion (My mom's family) this weekend from Thursday through Saturday. We had so much fun. Whether it be playing redneck golf, volleyball tournaments, a game of horseshoes, playing cards, eating, going hiking, swimming, riding the horses, golfing, having a water balloon fight, talent show, testimony meeting or just talking with friends and relatives, it is so much fun to be with the Burtons. Randy was able to go on the Keyhole hike and he had such a good time even though it was freezing cold and hard to do. My favorite thing was playing in the co-ed volleyball tournament. I loved seeing people I hadn't seen for a while as well as meet new additions to my cousins family's. Lily was spoiled once again as everyone wanted to hold her. It was great to have babysitters so I could play. Lily laughed for the first time on her three month old 'birthday' and it was adorable. I will try to get it on film next time. Needless to say,the boys were extremely sad to leave. We left on Saturday afternoon an got home around 9:00 pm due to traffic problems on the way back to Tooele. We are glad to be back home and hopefully it will be an easy transition for the boys back to real life without horses and tractors and cousins to play with all day. thanks uncle Neal for the great memories!

Excited or not?

So after seeing the first one, I am wondering if people are still as excited about Twilight as they were the first time around. Are you going to see the second one? I think I may wait till it comes out on video, but I guess we will see. New moon was definitely my least favorite of the books.

Feeling Itchy?

Today is our SEVENTH wedding anniversary! I'm not feeling itchy and Randy says he hasn't felt the "seven-year-itch" either. I consider myself very lucky to have found and married Randy. He is a sweetheart who makes me laugh and holds me when I cry. He lets me sleep in on the weekends while he handles the kids and I feel like everything he does, he does for me. He is the BEST husband. Randy, I love you so much and I can't wait for the next seven years (and more) with you!

Let's take a trip down memory lane: (since seven years ago we didn't use digital cameras much, I had no digital copies of our wedding photos. I took pictures of our photos to show you. no scanner in our house as of yet. I know we are behind.)

Awwwwwhhhh.

Is there such a thing as a good combover?

?Well, if there is, I think Lily's qualifies.

Can't blame me for trying can you? Love her, love her hair and even her newly acquired bald spot!

Latest DI find

we found this ball at the DI for 6 bucks. The kids love it, but I think Randy loves it even more than they do. Here are some pics and videos of us playing outside the other day. Enjoy.

p.s. I also got a giant bag full of yarn, crochet needles with crochet books, plus craft stuff along with 32 spools of ribbon! it was only 8 dollars! If you want some yarn, let me know. I just wanted the ribbon mostly .

Fun Filled Family Home evening

We went swimming for family night last night. It was Lily's first time "swimming" and she looked so cute in her tiny swimsuit. We got to the pool and found out it was "dollar day" so we got the whole family in for 3 bucks! sweet. here are some pictures from before we went to the pool. I forgot to take the camera with us.

Lily in her princess hooded robe. SO fun.
