Conversations Overheard

I was listening to Jacob and Lily's conversation the other day. They were completely unaware I could hear them.
Jake: Heavenly Father is our Father.
Lily: And Jesus is our DAD!
Jake: No, Jesus is not our Dad.
Lily: .....But Jesus loves us!
Jake: Yeah,...he loves us, but did you know that at night, Jesus protects us from ghosts?
Lily:Ooooh
Jake: But if Jesus dies then he can't protect us and we will all die from the ghosts.
Lily: Yep.

Birthday revisited

My birthday wasn't just a broken armed little girl. I spent the day unpacking from our trip up to snowbird and I made birthday cupcakes to share with my primary class on Sunday. Randy was busy going to the pinewood derby and he also worked hard on our yard. He bought a new lawnmower too. He bought me a beautiful hanging flower pot for our front porch.
Randy also got a babysitter and took me out to dinner. We had a tiny little tag along, but she was pretty good.

After our dinner, we headed to ColdStone to get me a birthday cake. You would think I would make my own, but I absolutely LOVE ice-cream cake. This year I picked out the mint chocolate cake.  We brought it home and the kids all sang happy birthday to me. They were pretty upset that I would buy a mint flavored cake, so I gave them some of the cupcakes I had baked earlier.
It was a fun birthday filled with calls from family all throughout the day (and a couple of late calls the next day). I sure felt loved and I am grateful for my family and all of the many blessings I have.
Here's to a great 29th year!

Happy Birthday to Me!

This isn't really how I expected my birthday to be, but in my now 29 years of life, I have learned that you can always count on a few surprises along the way.

My little Lily bean fractured her radius from a fall off the bottom of the playground slide. Her loving daddy bought her some new dollhouse accessories to play with. Because new toys makes it not hurt so bad right?
She didn't actually fracture her arm today though. We went to Jake's T-ball game on Thursday night when she fell off the slide. She complained that her wrist hurt and we didn't think much of it because she didn't seem to mind. We headed up to Snowbird to stay at the Iron Blossam for two nights (Thursday and Friday) and I noticed that she was hardly using that hand at all. she would say it hurt but that was pretty much all she said about it. Randy and I decided that we should take her to the insta-care just to make sure it wasn't broken. But, Randy came home with a bandaged little girl all excited about a new bedroom for her dollies.
We are supposed to call on Orthopedic Doctor on Monday and take the x-rays to him so he can actually set the bone and put on a cast. Until then, we will just give her a little extra love and care.
Happy birthday to me!

2 months...almost

Alyssa is 8 weeks old today! (She technically won't be two months until Sunday the 22nd). It just goes to show that time sure flies when you are sleep deprived and have 3 other children to take care of.

We had her 2 month well checkup today.
Her stats:
11.8lbs 75%
22" long 75%
I guess she is still a little big for her age. We are glad she is gaining weight and reaching all of the milestones she is supposed to. plus she is so fun to make smile and coo.

Lily also had her three year checkup. She is also healthy and doing great. Lily is in the 50th percentile for her height and weight.
She really did not want me to take her photo at the doctors office, but I got one of her holding Alyssa earlier.
Not the best picture with her pink headband and blue outfit, but sometimes you have to take what you can get.

I also thought I would add a picture of Lily at 2 months old. You can see how VERY different my girls look. I still can't believe how much hair lily had at that age. Pig tails? really?

CEO

Tyler was chosen by his teacher as the CEO of his class. It stands for Chief Example to Others. The teachers only pick 4 people per year with this honor. One boy and one girl are chosen for each half of the year. They put on a "breakfast" to honor the kids and have the teachers tell the families why they chose each child to be their CEO. We attended the breakfast this morning with our family. The breakfast was prepackaged cinnamon rolls and some sort of desert type bread with juice. Not quite what I would call a breakfast. It's not worth eating if you ask me. Anyway, Tyler's teacher got up and talked about our wonderful Tyler.
This is what Ty's teacher said about him.

In case you can't read it, it says:

"Tyler is a chief example to others in many ways. He is always ready, respectful, responsible and safe when he is at school. He always gets A's in reading, math and science.
Tyler follows the school rules and classroom rules all the time. He is almost always the first student to come to my class. When he comes to the class he knows what to do. When he has finished his work, he doesn't waste his time to chat or color. He reads a book instead.
Tyler is very kind to other students. I have never heard any bad words or bad things from his mouth.
Tyler likes to play basketball. I hope in the future you will be the next Jeremy Lin, an NBA player who graduated from Harvard."

(I corrected the grammar in the teacher's note. She is Chinese and writes like she speaks. With her accent she is a little difficult to understand. )

He got a certificate and his picture on the wall in the hallway with all the other CEO's from other grades. for some reason I can't get the picture turned the right way. Congrats to our great little boy! We are so proud of Tyler! He works really hard and tries his best in school. We hope his good grades and determination continue throughout his schooling.

Easter Fun

We had a fun Easter celebration on Sunday with Alyssa's blessing, but I also tried to get some photos of all the kids in their new church clothes. It didn't go so well, but I did the best I could.

I finally got Tyler to sit down and actually smile and I got a good picture, but it is blurry....of course.Jacob didn't want to smile for me either, so I made him laugh, but he tends to rock back and forth while he laughs.

Thanks Lily! Beautiful girl!
Her hair turned out so cute! It only cost me two packages of fruit snacks and the Twix she is holding. :)

Alyssa was in cahoots with her brothers and didn't want to take a photo. Either that or I had changed her in and out of two different dresses and had spent too much time taking pictures of her in the blessing dress. But this is what I got.

The girls in their matching dresses! So fun.
This would have been good without the pacifier.
Big sister helping out.
Tiny painted toenails to match.
the chocolate cake I made to take to my mom's house

And just for Lisa, I'll throw in a picture of Gunnar and Lily enjoying a nice beverage. Lily LOVES Gunnar!
The kids had an Easter egg hunt outside. Here is Lily with her pink eggs.

Tyler and Will showing off their eggs. Yes, the sun in Tyler's eyes makes him look a little "special"
Lily would not share her candy with her mother.
We had a great time! My mom also put together a Family Feud game that we all played. My team lost, and I blame Gunnar. Just kidding. It was really fun!

Alyssa's Blessing

We had a wonderful Easter morning yesterday. Randy blessed our beautiful Alyssa. Randy's parents were there along with cousin Gunnar, my parents and my little brother Ben.
It was a tender blessing and the spirit was very strong. Randy's mom crocheted Alyssa's dress and bonnet. She worked very hard on them and they turned out beautiful. I am so thankful for Alyssa. She is very loved.

Alyssa smiling
Eileen with an unhappy Alyssa.

I had to post this because it makes me laugh. Alyssa is a very "spitty" girl.

She isn't too happy can you tell? I think she is adorable, even when she is crying.

I couldn't keep her happy without the pacifier. So here are photos with it in.
Our cute (not so little) family.

Lily Says...

"Mom, Can we go hunt some bunnies now?"

-I guess all this talk of the Easter Bunny coming and Easter egg hunts has her confused. But then again, we live in Tooele, maybe we should go hunt some bunnies. lol.And for my mother-in-law, here is a picture of Tyler playing computer
Jake holing Alyssa. (his absolute favorite thing to do)
Cute girl
What we have done for much of our spring break...play x-box in their pajamas. yep, I know I'm a super duper good mom.

Why My Mom is the Greatest...Well one of the reasons anyway.

My mom is so wonderful! Today we were supposed to have a girls day with my sister Michelle, but her son Will is sick so she couldn't come. I went to my mom's anyway with the kids and we had lunch together with her sister Gayle. Then, when Gayle left, my mom suggested I go take a nap while she watched the kids for me. (I had a rough night last night with Alyssa. She is sick with whatever the rest of us had over the weekend and is a very sad girl right now). I had a wonderful nap and even had a dream. It felt so nice. It probably wasn't the fun girls day that Mom had thought she would have, but I appreciate it so much. Thanks mom for taking care of me and my kids! I really needed it.

Not only did she do that, but she also watched my older three kids last Friday while Randy and I went to his mission reunion AND she watched all of the kids the weekend before when Randy and I went to see the Hunger Games at the movie theater. She seriously watched the kids two weekends in a row! She is so sweet to me. I am very thankful to have such an amazing mother. She babysits for me, yes, and that is wonderful, but it isn't what makes her so amazing. There are too many things to name, but in a nutshell, she is just the best mom you could ever want. THANKS MOM!
