Gone Fishing with Papa

The boys and I were lucky enough to go on a little fishing trip with my Dad.  My boys hadn't ever been fishing before so we thought it would be beneficial to take them to a fish farm for their first time. If they want to go again, we can take them out on a boat in a lake.

We were able to catch five fish. It was a really hot day and there were times when the boys were bored to death and times when they were having the time of their lives! Tyler was a bit upset that Jacob was able to catch a fish first as well as catch more than him. But, Jake is very persistent and he tried the whole time to actually catch the fish, while Tyler would get bored and not realize his bait was out of the water while his mind wandered. It just goes to show how different my boys are. Papa was  nice to take us. One of my very favorite things growing up was going fishing with my Dad. Randy doesn't really like fishing, so I hope the boys can get some good memories fishing with their grandpa instead. Thanks Dad!

I love his happy face!

FHE Drawing SPAM

For family home evening, Tyler really wanted to draw a can of SPAM. That's normal right? Randy was at school and the other kids didn't want to participate, so Tyler and I got our drawing on all by ourselves. It was hard to draw with thick oil pastels, but I think that he and I did a fairly good job. What do you think?

Crazy with yardwork again!

Apparently when I start on an area of the yard, it is hard for me to stop. This is the south side of our yard that was severly overgrown. I borrowed my neighbors clippers and started clipping away.
The branches were far too thick to use our electric trimmer.

I trimmed away until all the branches were behind the curb line. I was probably out there for six hours or so. Lucky for me, my neighbor came over with her new baby and chatted with me while I worked. she brought a chair and a drink for both of us and I enjoyed getting to know her a little better.
More yard waste for Randy to deal with! HAHA he's going to hate paying the dump fee again. Oh well, at least our yard is looking a bit cleaner these days.
Lily was proud of the work "WE" did.

Chalk Art Festival

I didn't know that Bountiful City hosted a chalk art festival until we wandered down main street one day and saw it! I was mesmerized. Lily loved almost every single drawing and insisted I take pictures of all of her favorites. I only got half of her favorites and pretended to take photos of the other ones. Here are some that Lily and Jake loved.

I liked this Lion and was surprised it took 7th place.

I loved these jelly fish, but I felt awful when Lily stepped on the drawing and left her footprint on it. Don't ask me why she didn't have shoes on. I have no idea why.
Here's a closeup of her footprint. Sorry to whoever drew this!

This "Brave drawing was done by a high school student and won first place!
It was a ton of fun to watch the artists work. I can't wait to see it next year. Maybe I'll even sign up to draw my own!

Sweet Sisterly Love with some Curly Hair

I seriously can't get enough of these two! They have so much fun together during the day when their brothers are at school. It's all about dressing up, playing house, dancing, Barbies and anything girly you can possibly think of. They actually rarely fight. It is amazing!

We decided to try foam curling rods in Lily's hair the other day. I rolled them up into her damp hair after her bath and hoped for the best.

She liked how it looked  and felt confident rocking out on our driveway for the neighbors.
In the morning, she and I were thrilled with the results! I adore her face in this photo. You can tell she feels so beautiful. She is beautiful!
