It's no octopus, but I think it works just as well

I've gotten a lot of jabs for my un-creative butterfly sandwich, so I've been trying to redeem myself. Well, I made a fruit plate for my family last night. Usually it gets passed over, so I decided to be creative. The kids loved it! It isn't a creative hot dog octopus, but I will do what I can with what I have. Bon Appetite!
In case you are wondering, it is a white peach in the middle. It was a little too ripe. We finished off the whole thing!

I think Randy liked this plate a whole lot more than the friut though. don't worry, we only ate about 1/3 of this plate.

Check out our new purchase!

We bought a new sectional today! We went to the scratch and dent sale here in town and got a great deal on an undamaged couch. I am so excited to have a place to cuddle with my boys. Don't worry, I know it doesn't look right in the living room upstairs; it is intended for our basement. Cross your fingers that having it upstairs will get the basement going faster! I love it and I am so excited! Yay for us!

Swimming in B-Town

On Wednesday, most of my family went to Bountiful for the day because we were pretty sure Ben would get his mission call that day. We went swimming at the South Davis Rec Center and had a blast! Well, except for Will almost drowning in the lazy river by himself. It was such a fun place to go and swim. I was a little worried about the price, but with everything they have, I guess 5 bucks isn't too bad. They have an indoor swimming area with a gigantic water slide as well as the outdoor swim area with the pirate ship. We stayed at mom's hoping to also have a party celebrating Ben's mission call. It didn't come, but we stayed for a fun pizza party dinner anyway.

I should have taken more pictures of Tyler, but it was hard to keep track of Jake and take pictures, so enjoy what I've got.

Congratulations Boot!

Ben received his mission call today and he has been called to serve in Spokane, Washington and will be speaking Spanish! We are so proud of him for choosing to serve the Lord. We know it isn't the easiest decision to make. He reports on September 17Th so we still get to celebrate his 19Th birthday with him on the 10Th of September. You have a lot of skills that will help you be a great missionary one of them is everyone you meet becomes your best friend. I couldn't ask for a better 'little' brother! Congratulations again Boot! We will miss you!

Quote of the day: "I felt it!"

This has been one of my favorite videos for about 8 years or so. I say "I felt it" all the time and if you ask me, the commercial never gets old. I giggle when I think of it. Enjoy laughing for today!

You tell me

I was bored the other night, so I decided to draw a picture of my sweet Tyler. The next day, Tyler saw it, and being the judge that he is, he claimed that it "didn't look like him and it also made him look fat." So I thought you could be the judge. 1. Does it look even a little bit like Ty? 2. is it wall worthy? 3. should I just keep practicing? let me know what you think. I can handle a good critique, but be nice about it.

Getting our Grill on for Father's Day!

We had a pretty good Father's Day today. Not too exciting, but we have had some fun. We went to church where Randy got four gifts for Father's day. mostly candy, then we came home, had a nap, and grilled up some dinner on our new grill we bought yesterday. Randy was pretty excited about it. He has been wanting one for a while now, so I thought it would be a good anniversary/Father's day gift.
The really good thing about getting him this present is HE picks it out, HE puts it together, and then HE cooks dinner. I'm just wondering whey I didn't think of this before. It is a win win win if you ask me. Here are some pictures of him putting it together last night.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE FATHER'S OUT THERE!

"Happy anniversary happy aniversary happy anniversary haaaaaapy anniversary!"

Today is our 6th wedding anniversary! Yay for us! We have big plans too. We are going to go to Home Depot to buy blinds and some odds and ends and then get some take-out Chinese and watch a Red box movie when the kids are in bed. Bet you are so jealous of how exciting those plans are! I don't really care what we do as long as we are together though. Randy is such a sweetheart I am so thankful for all he does for our family and that he keeps me down to earth when so often my head is in the clouds. Love you babe!

Just my luck!

If you haven't noticed yet, I have a cell phone problem. It is not hard for me to operate or anything. It is hard for me to hold on to. In the past 6 months or so, I have lost or injured my cell phone three times! The first time, I was in Oregon on the beach and I jumped on a rock to miss a big wave and somehow my phone jumped out of my pocket and the ocean took it forever. The next mishap wasn't actually my fault; Randy took the new phone snowboarding with him and put it in his zippered pocket only to find when he was done for the day that it was unzipped and gone. Then, another unfortunate incident happened just yesterday. I was going to the bathroom and when I was done, I hurried to pull up my pants, which incidentally had the phone in the front pocket, and it flipped out of the pocket and right into the newly filled bowl. Yep, that's right, I of course went number one AND number two! I reached in and grabbed it as fast as I could. It couldn't have been in the toilet for more than two seconds and I held it over the sink wondering what to do next. I rinsed it out as best I could trying not to ruin it anymore than I already had. I took it apart and put it on a towel to dry out. Then, when Randy came home, he put it in alcohol to absorb the water and he took it to work today to bake the rest of the water out of the LCD screen. I hope it works!

I do have one excuse though; albeit not a very good one. This wouldn't have happened if my boys would let me go to the bathroom all by myself! I was trying to hurry because Jakey was going for the toilet bowl cleaner and Ty was freaking out about something that I needed to help him with. The look on Tyler's face when I reached into the toilet at lightning speed to fish out my phone was priceless though. Eeew!
If you need to reach me, you can call me at home.

Today's Recipe

I haven't posted any recipes for a while, but this one is good. An oldie but a goodie. I don't know if you are into soup in the summer, but I think it is worth it. Yum!

Chicken Noodle Soup

Noodles
3 eggs
1 t. baking powder
1 ½ t. salt
Mix ingredients and add flour till stiff and dry. Roll out as thin as possible. Set aside to dry.

Soup
3-4 boiled chicken breasts
2 carrots diced
2 celery stalks diced
1 medium onion
Basil
Italian seasoning
Salt
Sage
In pot cook vegetables until tender with 12 Cups chicken broth. Add 1 T. basil and Italian seasoning. Add 1 ½ t. salt and sage. Add chicken and let simmer about 20 min.
Cut noodles very thin and add to boiling soup. Cook until noodles are al dente. Serve immediately.
