Tis the season to be SCARY!

We attended our friends annual Halloween party last night and it was AWESOME! Randy and I went as a zombie bride and groom. I had so much fun putting our our makeup. We looked so scary that my poor little Jakey wouldn't come to me and Lily was crying in her crib just before we left and I didn't dare go in to comfort her because I thought I might make it worse. Luckily the babysitter showed up and calmed her down for me.
I wish I had a closeup of my face. It looked like the skin was coming off and was so stinking nasty looking. Maybe one of my friends took one that I can post later. One of the best costumes of the night. Tina and Ryan were Hello kitty Darth Vader and queen Amidala. They tied for first place for best costume.
Rachelle and Steve were Popeye and olive oil.
Alison and John were Kernel Sanders and a chicken
Evelyn and Sebastian were Hippies.

I forgot to take a picture of the host couple, Wendy and Joe, but I went trick-or-treating with them around main street today and I got a picture of their whole family (which is even better)

They were the other couple that tied for first place for best costume. Incredible!
And there you have it! a very successful party. We had so much fun. Thanks Wendy and Joe!

Participating at Papa's Place of Work

Randy and I took the kids to My dad's work and we trick-or-treated around the office cubicles. the boys had a great time and got tons of candy. It was fun for them to have their cousins Savannah and Will (Michelle's kids) at the office to trick-or-treat with. neither Tyler or Jacob really wanted their pictures taken, but I managed to sneak a few shots in anyway. Most of the photos of Tyler were of his candy bag over his face.Savannah and Will on the other hand were more than willing to pose for a shot. We had a good time Papa Thank You!

Tyler was a power ranger (I still can't find his ninja costume I hid from him) and Jacob was woody, Lily was the cutest fairy ever.

"This is Halloween...."

For FHE last night we carved pumpkins. It was pretty fun for me and I hope it was fun for the kids too. Tyler and Jake told us how they wanted their pumpkins carved and we did it for them. Of course I took the liberty and carved Lily's myself. I still can't believe people use stencils or templates to carve. Doesn't that take the fun out of it? Anyway, here are the photos of our finished jack-o-lanterns.
This it Tyler trying to make a face like his Jack-o-lanterns face. LOL!

To be two

Today was a two-year-old day. If you have a child who is 2 you know what I mean.

We started off with me trying to get Jake out of his batman pajamas while he screamed bloody murder saying "I'm BATMAN! I'M BATMAN!" He wore his batman pajama shirt and normal pants the rest of the day.

He broke a water glass in the kitchen and while I cleaned it up he sneaked some candy-corns and fed them to Lily.

He hit Tyler in the head with a flying toy train and when Tyler came upstairs to tell me about it, Jake just yelled from out of my sight "I TOLD him I was sorry MOM!" in an annoyed manner.

At dinner he thought everything would taste better if it was first dipped in his glass of milk. That includes his McDonald's toy.

Can't wait till tomorrow...
sigh

A couple of things

Tyler reading the Wal-Mart catalog to Lily and Jake. VERY exciting Halloween stuff in there. ;) This is now (unfortunately) what I see when I walk in to get Lily from naps. She falls all the time now because she tries to pull herself up on unstable objects. Oh well, live and learn right?

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

The Good:
Lily is reaching milestones such as crawling, eating, pulling up on things, etc. without me having to worry about her development.
The Bad:
Now that she is pulling herself up in her crib, she stands and wont lay down for a nap. I have to keep going in there to lay her back down.
The Ugly:
Her mama after not getting much sleep, having to clean, do laundry and take care of EVERYTHING and not getting a shower today yet. Greasy hair, no makeup and B.O. is IN right?

Why Am I Not Surprised

Lily is sporting a new hat today. Doesn't she look adorable? I can't believe how fast this girl does things. (Which is funny cause Jake did the same thing). Two days ago, we walked in her room to get her after her nap and found her standing up waiting for us....seriously? It is crazy! Also, more often than not, I see her "crawling" around and then she stops and pushes herself up to a sitting position. I don't know why I'm still surprised by her reaching these milestones so quickly, but I am. Baby center just e-mailed me telling me she may start to move forward (crawling or creeping) next month. Yeah, been there done that.I also threw in a couple of cute videos (for you who aren't around so much to see the kiddos.) Jake thought that in her hat she looked like she should be pulled "like a horsey"

Girls gone Crazy!

Here are the pictures from Alison (see previous post) that are WAY better than mine of our photo shoot. I guess being a pro photographer and having an awesome camera helps huh? Enjoy our weirdness. These are some of my favorite shots of the night.

Annual Girls Trip

Eight of us girls took our annual trip this year to Park City and we had a blast! It was hard to leave Lily for the first time and it hurt (literally) but It was only for one night and two days, so she and I survived.
On the first night, we got to the resort and had dinner and treats while we did makeovers on each other. We decided that we would do crazy or ANTM type makeovers. We drew names and got started. We all looked so Crazy! And then we had a photo shoot.
The DVD player wouldn't work for us, so we had to call a maintenance guy to come look at it for us and he was Shocked when he came in and saw all of us! It was hilarious. Equally funny, was the fact that I forgot a single part to my breast pump so it wouldn't work, and Rachelle (the other nursing mother) had a hand pump that didn't work very well. So, since both of us were feeling like we were going to explode, we all packed into the van and drove to Smiths Marketplace to buy a breast pump at 2:00 am. dressed and looking like crazies. Luckily there weren't a lot people there that early in the morning.
On Saturday, we got up and checked out by 10:00 am and drove to the outlet mall where we spent the next 6 hours shopping. It was very fun and I actually stuck to my list I brought of our needs.
After shopping we drove to salt Lake and had dinner at La Hacienda for some yummy Mexican food and then we attended "Thriller" the Halloween production put on by Odyssey Dance Theater. It was very cool and really funny. I liked it a lot. Thanks girls for such a fun trip. It never disappoints.
Here are the pictures I took, but hopefully I can get copies of the cool photos Alison (the photographer) shot of all of us to show you.

curbing....

I have been asked by a few people to post pictures of the curbing we had put in our yard. It looks kinda silly all by itself, but just imagine grass in the middle and plants and flowers around the outside. We are very happy with the choice we made to do it. We are unhappy with a neighbor girl who decided to step on it while it was still drying. And this was AFTER I had already warned her not to go in our yard, touch the cement or even go near it. I gave her quite the tongue lashing after she did it too. I felt really bad, but come on! You can see just a little indentation now where she put her weight on the curbing.

I also thought I would throw in the fact that we have a little grass on our side yard. The boys love to show anyone that comes to our house"the grass". It is so funny.

Tyler Says

Tyler (talking to Jacob): "Girls should be furry. They should have lots of fur. All girls should have lots and lots of fur... except human girls, they should have skin not fur. I like human girls to have skin without fur."

Yeah....not sure how this conversation makes much sense, But I'm glad he wont bring a furry girl home to me. It must be important to discuss non-humans every once in a while.

To be Two

Today Jacob found an ink pen and drew all over himself. He then, proceeded to tell me "you don't look at these" pointing at his arms alluding to the fact that if I DID look, then he would be in trouble.
Also, while playing outside with "friends," Jacob took off his pants, pooped in his diaper, then removed the soiled diaper and left it on our neighbors lawn. I would like to blame it on interacting with Uncle David too much, but alas I can't. (talk about bad neighborly conduct.) Tyler was a sweetheart and put the dirty diaper in our outside garbage can while I bathed the poopy streaker. Two-year-olds! (at least it wasn't in a paper bag and lit on fire!)

BOO

It's that time again!

Time for decorating windows with paint. I had a lot of fun with Tyler today decorating for Halloween. Unfortunately for me, his plans for the window didn't quite go with mine. As you can see, I had been thinking about and planning a haunted house with ghosts.
As you can also see, I hadn't been planning on "pumpkins with faces, but they aren't Jack-o-lanterns." I guess I am not as good when I do it all willy nilly. Maybe I can fix them tomorrow.

But for now, like it or not, this is what we have. Hope you like it Ty.

Getting excited for Halloween

Try JibJab Sendables® eCards today!

The prettiest boy in all the land.

Once upon a time there was a boy named Jacob. People came from all over the land to witness the beauty of this child. Then, one dark and dreary night the beautiful boy inherited a sister. She was the fairest of them all and this made the boy angry. He observed those who came to see his fair sister. They seemed to adore her accessories as well as the child...and now he knew the secret to her success. He waited until the time was right and made his move for the title of most beautiful...
He thought he had defeated the sister for sure! Unfortunately the boy soon found out that his dear mother would not permit such things to be worn outside the home. He felt defeated, but knew in his heart that he could be the fairest in all the land. His mother's shoes and makeup were sure to grant him supremacy over his beautiful sister...
Did he succeed at this task? well, that is another story for another time...

Hair do and veggies

I love this hair do I tried on Lily the other day. She looked adorable.Well, she always does, but you get the point.
These are the fruits of our labors we managed to save before all the frosty mornings. It isn't much considering our tomato plants are COVERED in green tomatoes. So sad.

That takes guts

Today we had an interesting visit due to our recent babysitter experience. Our babysitter came over with an apology letter and a refund for her services for that night. That takes guts; especially for a 14 year old girl. I'm impressed. She is more grown up than I am seeing as I didn't have the nerve to confront her and her parents face to face, so I told her mom via facebook what happened and how I felt about it. I doubt she will ever make this kind of mistake again. And hopefully I have learned that I have to talk to people whether I like it or not.

"Goodby FOREVER!"

Today I bid farewell (and good riddance) to the dirt pile an general lumpiness of our yard. I can't profess enough my deep gratitude to our friend's Dad who owns a tractor and came to grade our yard for us today. He refused any payment for his service whether by money or deed. But I'm sure we will find a way to show him how grateful we are. Thank You thank you thank you Bob! Here is how it looks today:

Isn't what you don't see wonderful in this picture?!!
Our boy hard at work. Better get him a Slurpee when he is done.:)

I can't wait until the day I can actually sit in our yard and watch my babies play in the grass. I generally watch them play in our neighbors yards.
In case you forgot what it looked like, I found this picture from about 2 1/2 years ago (there are no trees). I am so glad to be rid of this dirt pile that has adorned our yard for two and a half years!
