Slice and Dice

Today while I was at the pediatrician for Alyssa's 4 month checkup, my sweet five year old Jacob cut open his finger while playing at a friends house. Who knew that recliners could cut open your finger!

Alyssa did great at her checkup. her 4 month stats:
Weight: 14.2 lbs
Height: 22 1/4"
She is in the 75% for her height, weight and head circumference. So very well proportioned that it makes it easy for her to roll over front to back as well as back to front. The Doctor said that Alyssa has reached the milestones of a 6 month baby already. Leave it to my kids to be ahead of the curve at this age. Why can't they just stay babies?!
Lily was making Alyssa laugh at the doctors office. I got a short video.

When I got home, my friend Melissa told me she thought Jake might need stitches. Seeing that I find these sort of things fascinating, I, of course, documented the whole thing with pictures. I'm weird like that.
This is how it looked when he got home.
This is how it looked after the doctor cleaned it out. The doctor said that for this kid of injury and his age, it would be best to glue it back together rather than to stitch it up. It will stave off infection better this way.
The Doc also mentioned that it will hurt a lot. He said that the finger tips are sensitive and that he just glued a grown man's finger a few minutes before and the man cried. Jacob did not cry though. Does that sound like Randy to just me? sheesh.  I remember how much my experience hurt when I was pregnant with Lily.
I told Jake to "smile" before the glue was applied. Doesn't look nervous at all does he. lol.
.

I told him to show Alyssa how brave he was.
How it looked after it was glued together.

My kind of happy boy showing off his war wound.
Now, if only I can figure out a way to keep it dry for 72 hours...

Jake's shirt says it all - he's tough. Sounds like he did a great job.
