Tyler Says...

We went to McDonald's today because Randy is out of town and I wanted to give the boys a treat. Ty looked at his happy meal box and said: "Who is that?"

me: "that's um....Ronald McDonald."

Ty: "Why is that weird guy on my happy meal?"

Me: "Well, Kids like him and he helps sell kids meals."

Ty: "oh, well, if I saw this crazy weird guy at Micadonalds then I probwee wouldn't buy food from him because he is weird and scary.

I'm kinda with him on that one. I do think it is funny that he thought I meant he sells kids meals like he sells meals to kids. Anyway, I never really understood the whole Ronald McDonald thing. He really is quite weird and creepy! Can you really look at him and not think of those scary clowns in horror movies? it says on McDonald's website:

"McDonald’s mascot, Ronald McDonald is a magical and funny clown and every child’s best friend...So don’t be too surprised if you see Ronald McDonald visiting someone in the children’s ward of a hospital or hosting a birthday party at McDonald’s for one of his special friends."

I hope those poor kids in the hospital don't get too freaked out! It really is mean of Ronald to go to kids that can't run away from him if they want to! I can't get "IT" out of my head with pennywise and his creepy teeth and the red balloon. They look a little too much alike if you ask me. Yikes!

My Famous Brother Ben

Let's set the scene.....Ben was at his high school 4A State championship game and we were behind by two points and all of a sudden Ben was down with a hurt knee. He couldn't play the last few seconds! Who would they put in his place? All of a sudden they put ME into the game to sub for my big amazing brother. I get the ball passed to me and shoot at the buzzer from the three point line and.... Swish! I won the game for my little brother! The crowd went wild AAAAHHHHHH!
OK, so that was just a dream I had the other day, but that would have been kinda cool right? Actually, Ben never got hurt and they lost the game by just 3 points. Not quite as neat as my dream, but it was a very exciting game.
I had to put Ben on my blog sooner or later. You had to know it was coming if you know anything about the Aird family. My famous brother is so popular it is seriously unbelievable! Here is a story just to give you an idea. I was at home and a guy came to the door selling security systems. He gave me the usual pitch and then asked me where I was from. I told him Bountiful. then he says "Well, you probably don't follow high school basketball do you?" and I say "Yes I do, actually, my brother is on the Bountiful High team" he gets this look on his face ans says "It's not big Ben Aird is it?" I say yes and he freaks out saying that he couldn't believe that he would meet Ben's sister out in Tooele. It was like I was famous just for being his sister! I always wondered what it would be like to be Ben. I feel like I kind of got a glimpse when this door to door salesman got so excited to meet his sister! If only we could all take lessons on how to be so cool!
I also just found out that he has been chosen as the 4A MVP by the Deseret news and the SL Tribune! So all hail my "little" 6ft 10inch baby brother. Congratulations Boot! I hope you know you are special though with or without being a famous basketball star.

Tyler says....

Yesterday Ty and I were talking about swimming, this is how our conversation went:

Me: "Well, since you like the water, would you like to take swimming lessons? So you can learn how to swim?"
Ty: "Oh, I already know how to swim mom."
Me: "really?"
Ty: "Yeah, you just float, kick and glide!" (simple as that!)
Me:"Where did you learn that?"
Ty: "It is what ducks do mom, and they can swim really good... How do you GLIDE mom?"
Me: "Well, you....."
Ty: "Never mind, I will show you how (and he proceeds to "glide" around the house like he is on ice-skates. It looked hilarious!)

Fast learner huh. How did I get a child that came to us already knowing (or thinking he knows)how to do EVERYTHING! Sigh, at least I don't have to pay for swimming lessons right?

I'm Hot?

I bet when you think of me, you think wow! she is Hot! right? Well, I had an interesting experience yesterday at church. I was sitting in primary with my 3 year old kids (I had seven yesterday) and Phillip said "teacher, you're hot." Actually he kept trying to hold my hand and then every few minutes he would repeat "Teacher, you're hot." he even gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek! So sweet right? It is nice to feel hot every once in a while, even if it is a three-year-old telling you so. Oh, did I mention his hands were freezing and my skin was really hot compared to his?

Hoppy Hoppy Easter!

The Easter bunny (or as Tyler calls it; The Easter beagle) visited our house this morning. He wasn't going to visit till after church today, but Tyler awoke and started searching the house for eggs right away. So amazingly enough the Easter bunny came while we were getting dressed for church! That is one sneaky Easter bunny if you ask me. Oh, and I am happy to report that the Easter bunny DID bring chocolate to our house this year. Seriously though, I have NO idea what he was thinking last year! Enjoy the videos. I hope they aren't too dark to see.

Jake really enjoyed the eggs once he figured out there was candy in each one.

Tyler Says....What!?!

Some of you may know that my mother and father-in-law are staying with us this week. Since they are staying at our house, there is no avoiding getting up close and personal. So here is the conversation we sat at breakfast one morning.

Grandpa: "Tyler, do you want to say a blessing on the food?"
Ty: "Um.. no, we don't do that at breakfast."
Me (hoping not to look horrible in front of my in-laws): "Yes we do Ty!"
Grandpa: "You don't bless the food?"
Ty (very casually): "No, my mom doesn't teach me anymore."
Me: "What!? I teach you to say prayers Ty."
Ty: "well, Faye's mom teaches me now."

It was then that I realized he was talking about me not being his primary teacher anymore because he is out of sunbeams and onto CTR5. We did (and do) bless the food and had a good laugh, but geeze Ty! FYI I do teach my son to do the following: bathe, brush his teeth, say his prayers clean his room, read the scriptures, etc. (just in case he tells you otherwise). I guess I should be prepared for the things Tyler says, but I don't know if that is possible. Nothing like your son helping you look and act your best in front of your father-in-law eh?

Tyler Says

Ty: "why do mom's hate potty words?"
me: "because they are yucky words that don't make us feel good"
Ty: "well, why do mom's hate potty words but grandmas don't"
Me: "what do you mean?"
Ty: "I said a potty word to grandma and she laughed; so she likes them."
Me: "Oh really!"
Ty: "I can say potty words when they are funny and they make me waff (laugh) right? I will just say potty words to grandmas and not to mommy's so I be in trouble."

Speaking of trouble, Grandma! you are in big trouble!

Sick and tired of being sick and tired!

What's worse than going to see a new doctor when you are sick?
Finding out that the doctor is young and very good looking.

What's worse than looking your worst and having the good looking doctor do a check up on you? Blowing your nose and having the said doctor tell you you have some snot on your face.

Nice.

What? you thought I could snatch up Randy without some really smooth moves like that up my sleeve?

Jake is ONE!

Jacob turned one year old on Sunday! I can't believe that we have lived in here for almost a year! Jake is a sweetheart. Jake and I were sick on Sunday so we stayed home from church. I think he had a good birthday though. I had fun making the duck birthday cake! (Thanks to Amber's example) It isn't easy to make ducks out of frosting, but we made it work. Thanks to the three of you who remembered Jake's birthday (you know who you are) I really appreciate it!. Here is a slide show of the festivities! Hope you enjoy!
